At KKDC we use four learning curriculums that are used help to better prepare the children for kindergarten focusing on phonics, site words, and additional math. Each of our slassrooms offer age appropriate lesson plans and individual learning centers to keep the children engaged in learning while enhancing social skills.
The first is the High Reach learning curriculum. This curriculum is designed to meet each child’s developmental level. This curriculum begins at six weeks and focuses on shapes, colors, alphabet, phonics, a monthly theme and much more.
The second is a faith based Pinnacle curriculum. This curriculum incorporates Bible stories, songs, and morals into our classrooms and is non-denominational. Curriculum begins at 6 weeks and is maintained throughout enrollment at Kiddie Korner.
The third and fourth curriculums are geared towards pre-schoolers and
K-5. These implement a Scholastic preschool curriculum as well as Saxon math.
Individual learning centers are set up in each classroom. These centers include areas such as math, language, art, music, dramatic play, etc. and are designed to allow children to learn through play. Play is a very important part of childrens’ learning. We offer many hands-on learning experiences for the children. Your child may not be sent home with a “ditto” sheet every day, but this does not mean that learning did not occur with your child that day.
Each classroom has qualified staff members that provide Christian leadership. Each teacher is required to have an age appropriate lesson plan and schedule posted in his or her classroom. Assessment forms are done on each child and are provided for parents to see at Open House. These forms will be passed to the next teacher as the child moves up so that an individual goal and lesson plan can be provided for each child. In some of the older classrooms, these goals are in group form and not just for one child.
